Background
Hi there, my name is Kelly and I was born and raised 40 minutes south of our beautiful Lake Superior shoreline.
As I grew, so too did my interest in all the pretty rocks and fossils I've found. I received a bachelor's degree in Geology in December of '18 and left Michigan for a career. I worked for a few years in the environmental industry until I found myself back home during the pandemic and decided I wanted to stay and expand the knowledge of all the visitors who come to see these shores.
Geology is my first passion but I'm also a lover of all things artistic. In my free time I'm either painting or creating something!
As an avid outdoorswoman, you can always find me outside (just maybe not too early in the morning)! Join me on a walking tour of the Lake Superior shoreline and broaden your knowledge of this beautiful area!
Beautiful Sites
Join me on a guided tour of Lake Superior in the beautiful town of Grand Marais! There is free parking at the public beach, or we can take a small drive east to the bluffs*.
There are plenty of fantastic opportunities at both locations for rock-picking and gorgeous scenic photos!
We can talk about the geologic history of Lake Superior and the surrounding areas, or we can just chat about the kind of rocks you find and I will do my very best to identify them for you!
*For the time being we will be driving separately, there is a dirt road but you shouldn't need 4WD.
